Japanese “Toire no Hanako-san: Shin Gekijoban” Horror Film Gets New Trailer

The official website for Masafumi Yamada’s upcoming J-horror movie “Toire no Hanako-san: Shin Gekijoban” has recently started streaming a new trailer. The film is currently set to be a new version of the popular 90s horror movies based upon the Hanako-san urban legend, a vengeful female spirit who haunts school bathrooms. The film will feature Yuuka Ueno, a newcomer actor who won the 2012 “Dream Vocal Audition” out of 10,000 participants.

The story will follow Sayo, played my Ueno who moves from Tokyo with her mother to her grandmother’s house in the countryside. On her first day as a transfer student at her new school, she witnesses her new found friend, Maho, getting bullied by classmates. However, she is unable to save her due to fear of being a social outcast. Upon returning home, she becomes worried about Maho who was trapped in the school bathroom. Unbeknownst to her Maho had died that day.

“Toire no Hanako-san: Shin Gekijoban” initially get an early release at Kitajima Cinema Sunshine from June 22nd 2013, before getting a nationwide release in Japan on June 29th 2013.
